Trick or Treat!!!

This was Jade's first year Trick or Treating (and mine too)! It was the perfect weather to be out for a walk. Jade had so much fun and she just loved being a little balarina butterfly. Colby, aka "little stinker", came along for the ride but would've rather been sleeping. All in all, a great night out.

Jade 2 years / Colby 3 months

My main goal of this photo shoot was #1 - to get some good shots of the 2 kiddos together. Well, as you can see, they had different plans. "Colby, look here....Jade, smile!"
Yeah right. #2 - to get 3 month pictures of Colby....smiling.....
Probably not a good idea to take pictures right over Colby's nap time. So I layed him down on a blanket, thinking he could take a snooze while we captured Jade in all her glory...we got a few good ones of Jade, but she made us work for them that's for sure.
Then it was Colby's turn. Come on Colby...you're such a happy boy any other time! Just tears and fussing. Of course he LOVED the fact that I was making him work to push up onto his elbows. FINALLY A SMILE!! Did you get it?!?! We got a couple after sweat and tears - what a little man you look like Colby. Here are a few of my favorites.

Family

What a blessing it is to have a family like I do. As the holidays approach, I am amazed at how many families don't get along. I look forward to family get togethers. I can't wait until Christmas when I'll get to see my brother and family (recently relocated to SC). Here are a few pictures of our growing family!

We Miss You Grandpa

Grandpa – so many things to thank you for but we’ll try to pick just a few

Thank you for:

Your Smile
Grandpa’s face seemed to light up when he saw his Grandchildren & Great-grandchildren. It was obvious that he loved the little ones as he would poke them with his cane to try to get them to smile

Your Open Affection
I remember very vividly kisses on the cheek and of course the “ear meat” that he loved so much

Your example of peaceful response to times of war through your work in the alternative service

Your Support
Whether it be at sporting events, graduations, birthdays – you were always there

Your gentle spirit and re-assuring presence - even when you didn’t have much to say, we knew you were there for us

Your love of singing, which is passed down from generation to generation.

The way you graciously accepted our help…whether it was letting us carry your chair at the mountains, helping you get to your tree stand, or letting us help you with some of your decisions, you did that graciously

Being a Grandpa not just to us, but to our spouses – who remember your storytelling and funny hunting stories from 40 years ago.

That shoulder shrug, that said “what-ever” …an easy - going spirit, an acceptance of God’s will for our future, an understanding that God knows best and will provide for us

Being a person that we all respected, not because you demanded respect, but because of who you were as a person. Thank you for being our role model

Thank you that your last words to each of us this week was “ I love you”

Thank you for Living in Faith and making God the foundation to which our Family is built, for being a father to your children so that they could then be fathers to us

A trip down memory lane

i thought it only right to take a look back on some of my favorites of Jade in her first couple of years "before Colby." it's always fun to look back on pictures. it seems so long ago that she was a baby - and yet just yesterday. how time slips away. it reminds me that we need to treasure every moment.
